  • The events aim to enhance young peoples’ understanding of society through volunteer work experiences.

The 2024 “Rainbow Life” series of activities, organized by the Macao Community Youth Volunteers Development Association (MCYVDA) and sponsored by the Macau Foundation, took place in July and August. The MCYVDA has long upheld this initiative, aiming to enhance young peoples’ understanding of society through volunteer work experiences, cultivate a spirit of service and spread positive messages throughout the community.

The event contained three parts. The first included a workshop themed “Green Living, Waste Reduction at the Source”, followed by a planning session for volunteer activities and the development of a promotional strategy for the series.

The second was a community volunteer day focused on food donation, with six food collection stations set up across different districts. A total of 28 youth volunteers participated, receiving enthusiastic support from local residents.

The third was a food donation ceremony and sharing session, held in mid-August at the Peng On Tung Support and Service Center. The MCYVDA handed over 425 packaged food items to Peng On Tung.

Leong Weng Ian, Coordinator of the Social Services Office of General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, noted that the MCYVDA’s food collection efforts have garnered attention and recognition over the years, helping youth develop strong values and a sense of civic responsibility.

MCYVDA President, Chan Hong Wa, said the sharing session allowed volunteers to select suitable food items and personally visit Peng On Tung users, deepening their understanding of the community and fostering a positive attitude towards volunteer work.
