- The 2025 “Love in Action – Social Service Practice Program” has kicked off.
- MCYVDA plans to organize 10 visits to disadvantaged groups and six visits to social service organizations this year.
The Macao Community Youth Volunteers Development Association (MCYVDA) has officially launched its annual key activity “Love in Action – Social Service Practice Program”. This year, MCYVDA said it plans to organize 10 visits to underprivileged groups and six visits to social service organizations in order to continue to promote the participation of young people in social services and convey the concepts of civic education, social inclusion and National Security Education.
The program aims to expand the diversity of volunteer services and strengthen youth awareness of caring for the disadvantaged through systematic training and practice.
In 2024, the program engaged 350 youth volunteers in 18 activities, visiting over 187 elderly households at “Peng On Tung” while integrating training on public services, food safety and national security education.
In 2025, the program will further expand its scope of services and be held on the first three Saturdays of March. In addition to the continuation of door-to-door visits to elderly and disadvantaged families, the program will for the first time include six visits to social service organizations to guide young people to understand the modes of operation in the areas of special education and care for the elderly.
On 8 March, MCYVDA organized a visit to The Salvation Army Rui Xi Integrated Service Centre for Senior Citizens to experience the practice of elderly care. This was followed by a visit to the Macau Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre on 15 March to observe the exhibition of assistive devices for the elderly and learn about the application of technological aids. On 22 March MCYVDA will collaborate with “Peng On Tung” Service Centre to carry out home visits and practice caring actions.
The program is carried out through various diversified modes and works hand in hand with the community, encouraging more young people in Macau to participate in social services, realizing the diversified development of the social economy so that the spirit of “Love in Action” can take root.
