Macau Speech Professionals Association celebrates five years of promoting the development of speaking industry

  • The Macau Speech Professionals Association was established in 2020 and is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year.
  • The association aims to foster the unity and development of the local speaking community.

The Macau Speech Professionals Association was established in 2020 with the aim of providing a platform for passionate speakers to exchange ideas and grow.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, President Maggie Chan said she hopes to put together a group of professional speakers in Macau and to promote the unity and development of the local speaking industry.

Since its inception, the association has organized a number of activities including last year’s inaugural Macau Inter-school Speech Competition and the Speech Training Program, as well as inviting overseas experts to Macau for seminars.

“The association has witnessed the growth of many young people, from initial tension to eventual success in competition, and these improvements have inspired the members of the association,” Chan explained.

She also noted that the importance of speaking skills is increasing in Macau with many people looking to improve their eloquence, especially in the workplace.

“Good communication skills are essential for interaction with supervisors and clients, and many capable people miss out on opportunities because they are not eloquent enough,” Chan said. “The association is committed to developing presentation and eloquence skills to help them develop their careers.”

This is why, she added, the association has been invited to help enhance the presentation skills of Macau school students in robotics competitions, helping them to express their views more effectively to the judges.

Looking ahead, the Macau Speech Professionals Association hopes to further expand its influence and attract more people to participate in the organization.

“The association will also continue to organize various activities to nurture more excellent speakers and help them to shine in their respective fields,” Chan said.
