Melco Resorts & Entertainment has released its 2024 sustainability report, reaffirming its commitment to going “Above & Beyond” through the company’s RISE strategy – focusing on restoring the environment, inspiring communities, sustaining its supply chain and empowering positive business transformation.
Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho described 2024 as “a year of recalibration”, noting that Melco views luxury and responsibility as partners in progress. This is reflected in “how we uphold strong governance, manage our environmental impact, support our people and communities and lead in responsible gaming,” he said.
Among the highlights in the report, 10 Melco facilities in Macau were recognized as “Responsible Gambling Model Units” by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), with nine achieving perfect scores. Properties in Cyprus and Manila also received international “RG Check” accreditation.
On the environmental front, Melco has installed over 25,000 photovoltaic panels across its properties, generating nearly 10,000 MWh annually. Since 2018, its energy efficiency measures have saved more than 62.5 million kWh while its NORDAQ filtration system has helped eliminate the need for 13.2 million single-use plastic bottles.
The company was named in the “S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2025”, ranking in the 93rd percentile of its industry. It also received “Green Key” and “Green Hotel” awards for Studio City, Nuwa, Morpheus and The Countdown, along with a “B” rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project for both climate and water performance.
Melco reported investing an average of US$582 per employee in training, achieving 100% participation. More than US$17 million was donated to local causes, and nearly 3,600 team members took part in volunteer activities.
Melco said it will continue to engage stakeholders in its journey toward a climate-resilient and equitable future.
