POLY MGM MUSEUM’s debut exhibition, “The Maritime Silk Road – Discover the mystical seas and encounter the treasures of the ancient trade route”, has been awarded the “International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Cooperation Award” at the 22nd (2024) “Top Ten Museum Exhibitions” in China.

This distinction underscores the museum’s role in advancing Chinese cultural outreach, reinforcing Macau’s position as a hub for international exchange and cross-cultural collaboration.

Guided by the National Cultural Heritage Administration and organized by the Chinese Museums Association and China Cultural Relics Newspaper, the Top Ten Museum Exhibitions award represents the highest accolade in China’s museum sector. The 2024 competition assessed 161 entries, with 46 advancing to the final round. Ten exhibitions received Excellence Awards, while six – including POLY MGM MUSEUM’s – earned the International and Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Cooperation Award.

The exhibition delves into Macau’s deep historical ties with China via the maritime Silk Road and its role in fostering cultural exchange within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Since opening six months ago, it has welcomed nearly 700,000 visitors.

Media coverage has been extensive, with 862 reports in outlets including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency and China Media Group. Social media platforms, such as Douyin and Weibo, have amplified its reach to over 890 million impressions, surpassing 3 billion total views and generating 1.78 million interactions.

As a cultural tourism landmark, POLY MGM MUSEUM is committed to preserving and promoting Chinese heritage. Through innovative technologies and immersive experiences, the museum aspires to create an international platform for cultural exchange, ensuring Chinese civilization’s rich stories resonate globally, MGM explained.
