In celebration of the global premiere of the exhibition “Picasso: Beauty and Drama” at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Macao Orchestra jointly presented two flash mob performances of a Spanish-inspired masterpiece at Grand Lisboa Palace on 25 July, adding vibrancy to the artistic event with beautiful melodies.

The performance took place at the Atrium Performance Zone on Level 1 of Grand Lisboa Palace. Audiences were captivated by the unexpected musical interlude and swept away on a whimsical musical journey with Macau’s premier symphony orchestra.

A standout moment featured Macao Orchestra’s Music Director and Principal Conductor, Lio Kuokman, joining the musicians with rhythmic cymbal crashes for a stunning rendition of French composer Maurice Ravel’s “Boléro” – a passionate classical masterpiece bursting with Picasso’s Spanish flair. The energetic performances captivated both locals and tourists alike, creating joyful summer memories for families and friends.

SJM said it is dedicated to the development of arts and culture in Macau. This commitment includes providing a variety of cultural events for residents and tourists, nurturing local talent and promoting the integration of “art and culture + tourism” to reinforce Macau’s position as a “City of Performing Arts.”

“Picasso: Beauty and Drama” runs until 26 October 2025 at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, showcasing more than 140 original works by Pablo Picasso, spanning paintings, prints, ceramics, manuscripts and illustrations.

The exhibition is organized into seven thematic galleries: Beauty, Myths, Bulls, Women, Ceramics, Techniques and Top Ten, inviting visitors to explore Picasso’s evolving interpretations of beauty and the emotional drama of his personal life, offering an intimate glimpse into one of the greatest artistic minds of the 20th century.
