The “Melco Presents: 2025 UIM Macao Grand Prix MotoSurf World Championship” recently took place at Hac Sa Beach in Coloane. The event brought together top water sports athletes from around the world while blending culinary delights with local culture. It attracted distinguished guests from the government and business sectors, along with enthusiastic residents.

This is the second consecutive year that Macau has hosted the MotoSurf World Championship Grand Finale, co-organized by Melco Resorts & Entertainment and the Macao MotoSurf Association under the international sanction of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).

This year, the event introduced a new feature – the Coastal Market – along the beachside promenade, offering food, interactive workshops and a sand sculpture performance. The addition aimed to enrich the spectator experience while deepening the “tourism + sports” synergy in alignment with Macau’s broader development strategy.

The event attracted 80 riders from 19 countries and regions, including strong delegations from mainland China, the Czech Republic, South Korea, the UAE and various other European and Asian nations. The competition was divided into seven categories, with the mainland team sending five elite athletes, including Zhang Maozhu, who won a silver medal at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu.

Clarence Chung, Board Director of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said, “Melco is proud to co-host this iconic international championship with the Macao Motosurf Association for the second consecutive year here in Macau. By integrating high-caliber sporting experiences with local cultural elements like the Coastal Market, the event highlights Melco’s commitment to Macau’s diversified development whilst strengthening its status as a premier sports tourism destination.”
