MGM continues to demonstrate its commitment to lion dance heritage, recently signing a strategic cooperation agreement with the Wushu General Association of Macau to promote the preservation and development of Lingnan lion dance culture.

MGM and the Wushu General Association of Macau officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

The partnership between the integrated resort operator and the leading sports and cultural association aims to transform lion dance into a “participatory, experiential, and sustainable” urban cultural system.

MGM’s CEO and Executive Director Kenneth Feng highlighted the company’s investment in lion dance heritage for over 16 years, noting that the new initiative “is not a one-off cultural event, but a long-term and systematic commitment cultural development.”

As part of its heritage support, the group also holds the annual “MGM Lion Dance Festival,” integrating culture, sports and tourism to keep the tradition alive by staging key events across UNESCO World Heritage landmarks and popular Macau hotspots.

The President of the Wushu General Association of Macau and Chairman of the Dragon & Lion Dance Federation of Asia, Chan Weng Kit, praised the new partnership by saying, “MGM’s longstanding commitment to promoting lion dance development has delivered remarkable results. This strategic partnership represents a powerful alliance with far reaching significance.”

Both groups pledge to support lion dance culture by organizing international competitions, including “The 13th International Lion Dance Championship – MGM Cup.” Youth development programs, such as the “MGM Junior Lion Dance Summer Class,” will also compliment activities such as the “MGM Lion Dance Festival,” with expanded outreach across schools and communities and increased international exchanges and collaborations.
