Organized by the Macau Management Association (MMA), the 2026 Annual Management Seminar, titled “Co-drawing a Blueprint for High-Quality Healthy Development: Collaborative Growth and Opportunities of the Macao-Hengqin Big Health Industry,” was held in mid-September. Through multi-dimensional professional sharing, the seminar provided local enterprises with profound inspiration and an exchange platform, further deepening cooperation between Macao and Hengqin in the big health industry.

The seminar invited several keynote guests, including Alvis Lo Iek Long, Director of the Health Bureau; Zhang Sheng, Deputy Head of the Investment Promotion Division under the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin; and Lau Tai Hang, Technical Development Director of Macau Union Pharmaceutical Limited.
The guests engaged in in-depth sharing and exchanges regarding the current situation, policy support, and development directions of the big health industry in Macao and Hengqin.
In his opening speech, Tommy Lau Veng Seng, Council Chairman of the MMA, stated that as an important pillar of the SAR Government’s “1+4” appropriate economic diversification strategy, the big health industry serves as a core engine driving local industrial transformation and achieving high-quality development.

“As the construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin continues to deepen, the complementary advantages between the two regions in resource sharing, technology transfer, and market expansion have become increasingly prominent.”
Alvis Lo Iek Long noted that the big health industry is divided into three major sectors: Traditional Chinese Medicine big health, medical tourism, and low-barrier, inclusive big health consumption. Regarding medical tourism, Macao welcomes 40 million tourists annually, presenting immense potential for the development of medical tourism.
