Macau, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, (November 30, 2023) – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) fully supports the “1+4” adequate diversification development strategy of the Macau SAR Government and helps to promote the sustainable development of the integrated resort industry by supporting and organizing different talent development programs and providing various professional trainings for its team members. Recently, GEG held the U-LEAD Program 2023 Graduation Ceremony and “Introduction to Macao and Its World Heritage (Historic Centre of Macao)” training seminars at the Galaxy International Convention Center to support the industry’s talent cultivation.
For the fourth consecutive year, GEG again supported the Labour Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government (“DSAL”)’s Internship Career Experience Program by relaunching the U-LEAD Graduate Internship Program (“U-LEAD”) and providing Macau’s tertiary education graduates with a three-month internship in a large-scale integrated resort. To applaud the interns on their program completion, earlier, GEG held a graduation ceremony for them, and invited Mr. Chan Un Tong, Acting Director of DSAL; Ms. Lei Lai Keng, Head of Employment Department of DSAL; Mr. William Gibbon, Senior Vice President of HR Centre of Excellence of Human Resources and Administration of GEG, and other management team members to join. During the graduation ceremony, a representative from the graduating class thanked DSAL and GEG for launching the program, and for providing them with a good environment and internship opportunity that enabled them to enrich their work experiences, gain knowledge into the operation of large-scale integrated resorts, and lay a solid foundation for their future career development. This year, in addition to internship positions in hospitality, customer service, F&B, data analysis, facilities management, information technology and other areas, MICE and Arena operations were added to the program to provide a more diversified internship opportunity for local talents interested in developing their careers in the integrated resort sector.
Meanwhile, GEG and the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (“IFTM”) also jointly organized two training seminars on “Introduction to Macao and Its World Heritage (Historic Centre of Macao)”. Conducted by Mr. Sam Wai Chong, Instructor of School of Continuing Education of IFTM, and Ms. Lei Sin Man, Lecturer of Tourism and Attractions in tour guiding course of IFTM, the first event was attended by Dr. Lam Ching Chi, Director of School of Continuing Education of IFTM, in show of support. The seminars were attended by approximately 350 GEG management and frontline team members from 24 different departments. By introducing them to the Historic Centre of Macao and its intangible cultural heritage, the seminars enhanced their understanding of Macau’s history and culture, and helped them gain the relevant knowledge for application to their daily services so that they can support the promotion of community tourism in Macau. One of the participating team members said after the seminar that the lecturers’ use of case illustrations, such as how significant the world heritage site – Sam Kai Vui Kun (Kuan Tai Temple) has for the Festival of the Drunken Dragon, which is an intangible cultural heritage, and other tangible and intangible cultural heritage examples, lets the team members understand Macau’s rich history and culture from a different perspective. This is extremely useful for their sharing of Macau’s unique cultural stories with future guests, and will help them better promote the city’s tourism resources in future.
Over the years, GEG has launched numerous career development and training programs for local talents and its team members, such as the “Integrated Resort Youth Development Program”, which was launched in collaboration with DSAL to provide comprehensive training and career development opportunities for Macau residents wishing to join the integrated tourism and leisure services industry; the GEG Youth Achievement Program that GEG has co-organized with the Macau Management Association for 12 consecutive years and provided training and career enhancement to over 3,000 participants aged 18 to 29. In addition, GEG also provided the IR-LEAD Career Diversification Program, the Restaurant Manager Development Program, and the Facilities Management Upskilling Program for team members’ personal and professional achievements. Moving forward, GEG will continue to actively cultivate outstanding talents for Macau’s integrated resort industry, and help drive forward Macau’s development as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure”.
