Melco launches first Dolby Cinema in Hong Kong and Macau at Studio City

In late June, Melco Resorts & Entertainment unveiled the Studio City Cinema, home to the first Dolby Cinema in Hong Kong and Macau. The company said this development demonstrates its ongoing contribution to the diversified development of Macau’s tourism industry.

Studio City Cinema is equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual systems, featuring nine screening houses with a total of 770 seats. These include five luxurious VIP suites and a screening house with exclusively paired seating.

Several movies stars attend the cinema launch

The Dolby Cinema, the largest auditorium in Studio City Cinema with 338 seats, combines Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision picture quality in a custom-designed theatre for the first time in either of the two SARs. Other houses boast best-in-class features including RealLaser 4K projection, with three houses supporting Dolby Atmos.

Alex Or, Director of Content Relations, Greater China, Dolby Laboratories, attended the opening ceremony and expressed his gratitude to Studio City for introducing the first Dolby Cinema to Hong Kong and Macau. He believes the venue will become the premier choice for moviegoers in the two cities.

As part of the celebration, Studio City Cinema showcased an exclusive director’s cut screening of the blockbuster Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, which surpassed HK$100 million at the Hong Kong box office on its opening day. The main cast members were also invited to join the celebration at Studio City.
