Melco to host “Melco Style Presents: FISE: Battle of the Champions” skateboarding event in March

  • FISE: Battle of the Champions is set to take place in March 2025 at Melco’s Studio City in Macau.
  • The event aims to promote the development of urban sports and skateboarding culture in China, particularly within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau region.

A press conference in Shanghai in late October revealed details of the upcoming “Melco Style Presents: FISE: Battle of the Champions”, with skaters Benjamin Garcia and Zhu Yuanling securing golden tickets to the Macau event following standout performances at the Shanghai skateboard street contest.

The Macau competition will take place at Studio City in March 2025, where Garcia and Zhu will face off against some of the world’s top skateboarders for a share of the €70,000 (MOP 605,000) prize pool and global recognition.

The Macau event, an exclusive, invitation-only street skateboarding tournament, will feature a 1v1 battle format where elite skateboarders will compete in head-to-head matchups. A panel of professional judges will select the champion of this inaugural Macau event, with the winner taking home up to €10,000 (MOP 86,400) in prize money.

The event, a collaboration between Melco, Rakuten Sports and Hurricane Group, aims to promote the development of urban sports and skateboarding culture in China, particularly within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau region.

Kevin Benning, Senior Vice President and Property General Manager of Studio City, said, FISE: Battle of the Champions 2025 exemplifies Melco’s unwavering commitment to establishing high-caliber sporting events, furthering our vision of transforming Macau into a ‘City of Sports’. Through this event, we aim to provide a platform for skateboard enthusiasts to showcase their talents, while also inspiring greater public interest in skateboarding and fostering in-depth cultural exchange and development within the realm of sports.”

In addition to the professional competition, the event in Macau will also feature an Open Junior/Amateur contest.
