- The Macao Community Youth Volunteers Development Association joined “Winter Warmth 2025”.
- The event aimed to help elderly residents feel valued and cared for by the community.
The “Winter Warmth 2025” event, organized by the United General Association of Macao Community Volunteers, took place in January. This year, the event mobilized 700 volunteers to deliver New Year blessing packages to 400 “Peng On Tung” elderly service users, bringing festive greetings and care to senior residents.
For the first time, the event also expanded to the Greater Bay Area, with 50 young volunteers visiting elderly residents in Zhuhai and Hengqin, strengthening regional collaboration in volunteer services.
The Macao Community Youth Volunteers Development Association (MCYVDA) actively responded to the initiative, organizing 37 young volunteers to participate in the event. Through face-to-face interactions, the volunteers helped elderly residents feel valued and cared for by the community. At the same time, the activity enabled young volunteers to better understand the needs of the elderly, deepen their sense of belonging to the community and cultivate greater social awareness, reinforcing their role in community service.
President of the United General Association of Macao Community Volunteers, Mr Tang Man Kei, said that the “Winter Warmth” initiative has received strong support from all sectors of society over the years. He emphasized that volunteers embody social responsibility through their actions by caring for the community and spreading warmth and expressed his hope that young volunteers can gain insights into the lives of different social groups, develop empathy for those in need and carry forward this sense of social responsibility.
