In early 2025, Melco Resorts & Entertainment gained fresh international recognition for its efforts in corporate sustainability. The company earned a place in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2025, while its Studio City Phase 2 project received an “Excellent” rating from the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).

The Green Wall

Melco performed strongly in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), securing inclusion in the 2025 yearbook and being named the “Industry Mover” in the casinos and gaming category. The yearbook highlights companies in the top 15% of their industries based on 2024 CSA scores, provided their results are within 30% of the sector’s best. Melco ranked among the highest performers out of almost 8,000 firms from more than 60 industries worldwide, reflecting its steady focus on sustainability.

Studio City

Meanwhile, Studio City Phase 2 met rigorous environmental standards. Having earned an “Excellent” rating during its design phase, the project gained the same accolade in BREEAM’s “New Construction” category, becoming the first project in Macau to receive this honor.

The development also became China’s first BREEAM-certified building, having earned an “Excellent” rating under the International 2016 New Construction: Bespoke scheme and winning the BREEAM “Regional Award, Asia” in 2021.

Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco, expressed his pride at the recognition from S&P and BREEAM, stating that these achievements reflect Melco’s steadfast commitment to sustainability across all operational levels and touchpoints.

“We will strive to continue to make a positive impact in everything we do, leading by example, and showing that it is possible to be successful while being responsible stewards of our planet and communities,” he said.
