Melco hosts community skating experience workshop to inspire local youth

  • Melco held a community skateboarding workshop to support local sports talent development.
  • The workshop was attended by around 30 youth and families from community partners.

Melco Resorts & Entertainment hosted the “Melco Community Skating Experience Workshop” on 22 March at its newly unveiled “Studio City Sk8te Park”.

The community-driven initiative was designed to introduce local youth to the sport of skateboarding, offering them hands-on experience and exposure to a growing global phenomenon. The workshop formed part of the program surrounding the “2025 FISE Battle of the Champions” – the first international competition of its kind to be staged in the Greater Bay Area and one of the key events under the banner of “Culture City of East Asia 2025 – Macao, China”.

Organized in collaboration with FISE and supported by Melco’s Parent and Child volunteer team, the workshop welcomed approximately 30 youth and their families. Attendees came from community partners including Bosco Youth Service Network, Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office – Astor Shore (Star of Hope) and Centro Comunitario Tamagnini Barbosa Da Federacao Das Associacoes dos Operarios de Macau.

Participants received guidance from a professional coach, learning basic skateboarding techniques such as stance and control. They were also given the opportunity to try on equipment and experience the sport first-hand. To conclude the day, guests were invited by Melco to enjoy the “2025 FISE Battle of the Champions” at the Studio City Event Center.

Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff of Melco, said the company was pleased to invite local youth and families to participate in the community event as part of its ongoing commitment to inspiring and nurturing young talent. She also expressed hope that the exposure to skateboarding – through both the hands-on workshop and the world-class competition featuring top athletes – would offer participants a meaningful and motivating experience, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and realize their full potential.
