On 3 September, a military parade was held at Beijing’s Tiananmen Square to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Melco Resorts & Entertainment, dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and history, organized an event at Studio City on the same day, inviting approximately 2,000 colleagues and their families to watch the parade together.

The event featured a dedicated live-streaming area, with synchronized broadcasts also available in Heart-of-House areas to facilitate viewing for frontline colleagues. Melco further arranged afternoon replays to enable employees on morning shifts to participate.

Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho said, “We observed the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance with pride. The parade not only demonstrated the nation’s strength but also its unwavering resolve to pursue a path of peaceful development.”

The event also featured a guest appearance by Ho Sut Heng, President of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, who shared her reflections.

“Events showcased the capabilities of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, giving us confidence in our nation’s development and the maintenance of world peace,” she said.

Ho Sut Heng further quoted President Xi Jinping’s address, emphasizing the importance of “remembering history, cherishing the memory of our martyrs, sustaining peace and creating the future”.

Participating in the event, Debby Ung, Assistant Manager, Employee Engagement & Events at Melco, said, “Watching today’s military parade filled me with pride. It was a powerful reminder of how far our nation has come and how much strength and safety we share together.”

This event formed part of Melco’s “Splendors of China” national education program. Since its launch in 2016, the initiative has focused on promoting Chinese culture and history to cultivate patriotic sentiments and national pride among colleagues and the wider community.
