Melco celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival with 1,000 drone show and festivities

  • Melco hosted a drone lantern parade show and “Full Moon at Mount Fortress 2024” to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
  • The events highlight Melco’s commitment to supporting the revitalization of Macau’s historical districts.

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Melco hosted its first-ever large-scale drone lantern parade show, “The Moonlit Drone Fiesta”, featuring 1,000 dazzling drones to celebrate the festive season with the public.

The event kicked off on 14 September at Studio City. Over 1,000 guests gathered beneath the iconic figure-eight Ferris wheel to witness a spectacular display of 1,000 drones painting stories and creative Mid-Autumn-themed designs in the night sky.

Over the two-day celebration, guests also enjoyed a variety of festive activities, including a festive market, Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) experiences, acrobatic performances, and booths offering traditional Chinese games, adding to the fun of moon-gazing with a cultural flair.

Additionally, from 15 to 19 September, Melco is hosting the “Full Moon at Mount Fortress 2024” Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at the historical Mount Fortress. The garden, rich in Macau’s cultural heritage, has been transformed into a festive moon-gazing destination, complete with dazzling lantern displays, multiple photo areas, a night market, riddle games and live musical performances. At the event, the Moon Goddess Chang’e interacted with the public and tourists, adding to the joy of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival event at Mount Fortress, first held last year, received an overwhelming response. On average, nearly 5,000 people visited the venue each evening to enjoy performances and take in the beauty of Macau’s World Heritage sites. The event was even extended by several days to allow more residents and visitors to experience nighttime tours at the Mount Fortress Garden.

The Macau SAR government is committed to advancing the revitalization of historical districts, enhancing the utilization of cultural resources, and enabling these areas to drive the coordinated development of surrounding regions, thereby invigorating the overall community atmosphere. Mount Fortress and its surrounding spaces are among the key cultural sites targeted for optimization in the first phase of the revitalization plan, primarily led by Melco Resorts & Entertainment.

Melco expressed its ongoing commitment to supporting the revitalization of historic areas, aiming to attract visitors to Macau through diverse entertainment and leisure experiences, thereby contributing to the city’s diversified economic development.
