The annual Oxfam fundraising event, “Oxfam Rice Event 2025”, began in May, receiving enthusiastic support and successfully raising over MOP 635,000.

This year’s campaign was conducted under the theme “Fight Climate Change, Empower Smallholder Farmers”, urging the public to pay attention to the impact of climate change on small farmers worldwide. The event saw rice stalls set up across Macau from 24 to 25 May with roadshows held in various communities and at local businesses to promote the campaign. A total of 37 rice booths and roadshows were organized, mobilizing over 800 volunteers.

The proceeds from this year’s event will be used to support impoverished small-scale farmers worldwide in improving their farming techniques and resilience, enhancing their livelihoods and aiding a move towards sustainable development.

The event was supported by Bank of China Macau Branch, BCM Bank, CTM, Macau Artistes Association, Macau Pageant Alliance, CEM, government departments, integrated resorts, local schools and community groups who all joined forces to demonstrate Macau’s strong commitment to climate justice.

This year, Oxfam continued its creative collaboration with Medialink Animation International Limited, introducing the much-loved Mr Men and Little Miss characters from the classic British book series on limited-edition Oxfam Rice packs and gift sets.

Oxfam expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers and major sponsors and partners for their selfless contributions and support. It noted that every act of participation helps advance Oxfam’s mission to empower smallholder farmers and build a more equitable, resilient and sustainable world for all.
