“Picasso: Beauty and Drama,” the world premiere exhibition presented by SJM Resorts, S.A. as one of the highlights of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025”, is now open at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. The exhibition runs until 26 October 2025, showcasing more than 140 original works by Pablo Picasso.

Jointly organized by SJM and Museo Casa Natal Picasso, with the support of the Agencia Pública para la Gestión de la Casa Natal de Pablo Ruiz Picasso y otros Equipamentos Museísticos y Culturales and Ayuntamiento de Málaga, the exhibition spans paintings, prints, ceramics, manuscripts and illustrations.
Through this extraordinary collection, the exhibition explores Picasso’s evolving interpretations of beauty and the emotional drama of his personal life, offering an intimate glimpse into one of the greatest artistic minds of the 20th century.
The exhibition also exemplifies SJM’s ongoing commitment to enriching Macau’s tourism offerings through cultural showcases and advancing the integration of “Art + Tourism” in the city’s development.
Leong Wai Man, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government said: “‘Art Macao’, an international arts festival jointly created by the SAR Government and various sectors, serves as both a platform for cultural exchange and a catalyst for the city’s innovative development.
“Its success reflects the unwavering support of all stakeholders. SJM’s longstanding commitment to arts and culture has significantly enriched Macau’s urban landscape with an international vision and creative curation, elevating the city’s global artistic reputation.”

Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, added, “SJM is proud to continue its support of ‘Art Macao’ and to work alongside the Macao SAR Government in advancing the high-quality development of the city’s cultural sector.
“To truly realize the vision of ‘shaping tourism with cultural activities and promoting culture through tourism’, we must continue to build rich and multidimensional experiences that give equal weight to cultural preservation and international exchange.
“This exhibition exemplifies meaningful cross-cultural collaboration and resonates with our longstanding efforts to promote Chinese cultural heritage. It also underscores Macau’s unique East-meets-West character and reflects SJM’s active role in driving the city’s cultural development.”
Echoing the theme of Art Macao 2025 – “Hey, what brings you here?” –“Picasso: Beauty and Drama” charts the artist’s creative evolution through various stages of his career and across multiple mediums while offering rare insight into his emotional landscape and profound connection to his native Andalusia.
Highlighted works include “Figure in Striped Bodice”, painted for his partner; “Paloma with Doll, Black Background”, a tender portrait of his five-year-old daughter; the ceramic masterpiece “Knight and Horse”; and “Painter with Brush and Model with Headscarf”, a reimagining of the artist’s studio.

The exhibition is organized into seven thematic galleries: Beauty, Myths, Bulls, Women, Ceramics, Techniques and Top Ten.
The exhibition culminates in an interactive zone, inviting visitors to return to the theme of Art Macao 2025 by engaging with Picasso’s spirit through themed interactive installations.
These include “Mirror Room”, offering distorted reflections that awaken self-awareness and creative expression through self-portraits or collaborative drawings, and “Where Are You Going?” – a symbolic journey through four life paths that encourages visitors to follow their passions as Picasso did throughout his career.
