Sands China highlights “Youth Talent Development System” as 154 summer interns graduate

  • Sands hosted an event to introduce its Youth Talent Development System.
  • 154 summer trainees who completed the summer internship program were awarded graduation certificates.

On 17 September, Sands China Ltd hosted an event at The Londoner Macao to introduce its “Youth Talent Development System” to government departments, educational institutions and industry partners. It also held a graduation ceremony for 154 local youths who completed summer work programs.

This initiative demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting local talent development through a multi-stage strategy.

The Youth Talent Development System encompasses four stages: secondary school, university, post-graduation and employment.

At the secondary school level, the company collaborated with the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre and Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional to launch the first three-year program in Macau focused on stage technology and event production. At the university level, it launched Macau’s first Career Experience Opportunity (CEO) program, which offers part-time positions to university students – allowing them to apply their classroom knowledge early on.

For post-graduation, Sands China has collaborated with the Labour Affairs Bureau to launch 23 elite programs over the years, including utilizing a “hire and train” model. For employment, the Sands China Academy delivers on-the-job training through eight specialized sub-academies, enhancing employee skills and competitiveness while offering horizontal and vertical career mobility opportunities.

Grant Chum, CEO and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd, said, “In alignment with the Macao SAR government’s vision for talent development, we have been working closely with various government departments, secondary schools and higher education institutions over the years to build a youth talent development system that covers different growth stages and provides progressive support for Macau’s youth in career planning.”

The event also saw the presentation of graduation certificates to summer program trainees, encouraging them to apply their internship experiences to their career planning. Young trainees included students who had taken part in the Education and Youth Development Bureau’s summer internship program and Sands China’s Summer Trainee Programme.
