  • Oxfam hold the 12th Oxfam TowerRun at Macau Tower.
  • This year’s event attracted over 400 athletes and volunteers.

The 12th Oxfam TowerRun took place at Macau Tower on 19 October. This year’s event attracted over 400 athletes and volunteers and featured categories including Individual Full Race (61 floors), Individual Half Race (31 floors) and Four-Person Team Relay Challenge. The full tower race welcomed more than 40 international elite runners, including some of the world’s top-ranked male and female athletes.

Since its inception, the Oxfam Run for the Tower has raised nearly MOP 5.2 million. This year’s event, themed “Every Mind Counts, Every Step Transforms Lives”, directed funds towards Oxfam’s poverty alleviation and development projects. These projects include supporting the education and holistic development of left-behind children in mainland China.

The competition was fiercely contested this year. The champions of the Elite Individual Full Race were Ryoji Watanabe (6:46) and Yuko Tateishi (9:04). The PUMA Team won the Four-Person Team Relay Challenge with a time of 6:14.

Ho Chun Ting claimed both the men’s Full Race and Half Race in times of 8:13 and 3:56 respectively. The women’s Full Race and Half Race were won by Cindy Reid (11:05) and Vivi Cheung (5:41) respectively.

Event ambassadors, including Soh Wai Ching – the world’s top-ranked vertical runner – and Macau trail runner Vivi Cheung participated in the Full Race, Half Race and Team Relay Challenge. They also cheered on the participants, spreading positive energy.

The event featured food stalls and workshops, attracting numerous families and tourists. Through these activities, the public gained a deeper insight into Oxfam’s philosophy of alleviating poverty. The event successfully combined a sporting spectacle with public welfare education, promoting the connection between sport and social care and bringing the community together.
