MGM is the first Macau integrated resort operator to achieve the “WELL at Scale” designation, championing its leading practices in healthy buildings, human-centric design and sustainable operations.
On 9 June, MGM COTAI, along with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), hosted the “Beyond Green: Advancing to WELL Buildings— WELL Platinum Certification Ceremony and Thematic Session”, welcoming over 100 distinguished guests.
During the ceremony, the IWBI awarded MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI the highest-level Platinum certification under the WELL Building Standard v.2, with both properties achieving the highest score (121) among publicly disclosed WELL projects in China.
Speaking of the achievement, MGM China Holdings Limited CEO and Executive Director Kenneth Feng noted, “This dual WELL Platinum achievement for our two integrated resorts marks a significant milestone for MGM. We have long been committed to advancing green buildings and low-carbon operations. Achieving WELL certification reflects our expanded focus — from the ‘environment’ to ‘people’ — with a stronger emphasis on the physical, mental, and overall well-being of our employees and guests.”

Aside from the awards, the event also featured thematic sharing sessions and panel discussions on sustainable hospitality, ventilation, noise control and healthy buildings, based on international standards, case studies and operational practices, while showcasing cutting-edge technology.
The event was attended by numerous top officials, including MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes; the Acting Deputy Director of the Health Bureau, Dr Warren Tai Wa Hou; the Senior Vice President of IWBI Asia, Mei Xu; MGM China Holdings Limited CEO and Executive Director Kenneth Feng and numerous top MGM executives.
