SJM Resorts, S.A. (“SJM”) has been championing local talent development and supporting Macau’s youth for at least six decades. The company recently held the “22nd SJM Scholarship Award Ceremony” at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Lisboa Macau, presenting scholarships of MOP20,000 each to 36 outstanding children of employees, in recognition of their academic excellence.
The SJM Scholarship is the longest-running and most far-reaching educational support program for employees’ children among Macau’s integrated tourism and leisure enterprises. To date, the program has benefited hundreds of the families of its employees across Macau.
This year’s 10 new scholarship recipients have all chosen to pursue higher education in Macau, Hong Kong or Mainland China.
Their chosen fields of study span key disciplines including technology and innovation, healthcare, and financial services, aligning closely with the long-term development strategies of both the nation and Macau, while helping build a strong talent pipeline for the city’s economic diversification.
Daisy Ho, Managing Director of SJM, spotlighted how the scholarship is more than an academic award and also represents the company’s belief in each recipient’s future growth. She encouraged the students to stay curious, work hard, and strive for excellence, turning their knowledge into meaningful action.
She also called on the students to give back to their community after graduation, and to play their part in Macau’s continued prosperity and the nation’s development.
Over the years, the Company has established a comprehensive pathway from education to employment through a wide range of initiatives, including school-enterprise partnerships, youth internship programs, professional training opportunities and career advancement schemes.
