GEG co-launches “Shaping a Better Future Through Sustainable Tourism” series

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) joined hands with the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) to launch the “Shaping a Better Future Through Sustainable Tourism” series with an inauguration ceremony and thematic forum held on 29 October at The Ritz-Carlton, Macau at Galaxy Macau.

The “Shaping a Better Future Through Sustainable Tourism” series focuses on the green transformation of tourism and related industries, including a variety of activities between October and December, such as thematic forums, workshops and sharing sessions. The initiative gathers representatives from government departments, the tourism industry and academia to exchange views and practical approaches on green operations, plastic reduction and the circular economy in sectors such as hospitality and food and beverage. These efforts aim to deepen cross-sector integration under the “Tourism+” strategy, while improving the overall quality of its offerings in Macau’s tourism sector.

Philip Cheng, Director of GEG

Philip Cheng, Director of GEG, said, “GEG is honored to co-organize this series with MGTO and DSAL, promoting industry exchanges and talent cultivation. GEG has been proactive in supporting the country’s ‘Dual Carbon’ goals and aligning with the Macau SAR Government’s ‘Tourism+’ development strategy. Through diverse measures, GEG incorporates sustainable development principles into daily operations, promoting green construction, eco-friendly hotels, sustainable MICE and culinary practices, ultimately enhancing the visitor experience and fostering high-quality, sustainable development of Macau’s integrated tourism and leisure industry.”

Through these activities, the organizers aim to embed sustainable development practices within the hospitality and food and beverage sectors, helping the industry establish more competitive green operational models.
