The Macau Judiciary Police has recently organized staff to visit several rehabilitation service groups to promote communication and cooperation between the police and the public, and to promote police information and crime prevention awareness in an effort to fully communicate with the community.

Since March, officers from the Judiciary Police division have organized discussions and exchanges with Paul Pun, Secretary-General of Caritas Macau, Ma Teng, from the Macau Association for Intellectual Development Services (MAIDS), and Hetzer Siu, Chief Executive Officer of the Macau Special Olympics, to review the last year’s public safety status, law enforcement and police publicity work, and jointly carry out crime prevention education for the disabled and their caregivers, as well as frontline social workers.

The Judiciary Police division staff stated that they will be committed to deepening interaction with the community and the level of trust between police and the public, and to jointly build a safe and harmonious social environment. They also stated they will continue to maintain close communication and cooperation with rehabilitation service groups in Macau in order to provide appropriate help for rehabilitated people by enhancing their awareness of law-abiding behavior and crime prevention capabilities.

Representatives from local associations commented that the event not only promoted cooperation between the Judiciary Police and rehabilitation service groups, but also helped to raise awareness and knowledge of residents about policing work and crime prevention.

Representatives of various groups said that the establishment of a convenient communication mechanism with the Judiciary Police over the last year helped to raise the awareness of crime prevention for rehabilitated people and their caregivers, and allowed them to receive timely and appropriate help.
