During the Mid-Autumn Festival, many people will receive mooncakes from relatives and friends while re-uniting or celebrating. After the festival, many of us will be left with mooncake boxes. If you feel that simply throwing mooncake boxes away will generate unnecessary waste, you may consider taking part in the “Recycling moon cake boxes is very easy” campaign launched by the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA).

To continue implementing the environmental protection policy of resource recovery and recycling, DSPA promotes the environmental protection message of “reuse first, recycle later” to the public, and encourages the public to recycle unwanted mooncake boxes. The Environmental Protection Bureau will continue to organize “Recycling moon cake boxes is very easy” throughout this year’s Mid-Autumn festival, setting up 1,000 mooncake box recycling points in various districts across Macau from 29 September to 16 October.

Recycling points for the public can be found at government departments, associations, hotels, banking institutions and local shops. The Environmental Protection Bureau has also set up recycling points at public and private institutions, residential buildings and schools. There are as many as 18 partners, including major associations and banks.
