PJ works with Macau’s higher-education institutions to organize anti-fraud campaigns

In order to implement the “Task Force on Fraud Prevention and Education for College Students”, Macau’s Judiciary Police (PJ) joined hands with higher educational institutions to launch a new round of anti-fraud promotional campaigns, striving to prevent fraud on campus and to strengthen the cooperation between the PJ and educational institutions.

During August and September criminal investigators from the PJ’s Youth Concern Group and the Crimes Division Anti-Fraud Coordination Centre visited seven local higher-educational institutions where they held a total of 17 anti-fraud seminars and 15 anti-fraud booth activities. More than 18,600 teachers, students and parents attended.

PJ officers shared anti-fraud information with teachers, students and parents, such as common telecommunications network fraud techniques and countermeasures. The Bureau also set up booths at the universities’ orientation activities and distributed anti-fraud leaflets to promote and introduce the latest anti-fraud information.

The PJ pointed out that most of the victims of telecommunications fraud cases in Macau were students from higher educational institutions. Therefore, PJ has discussed countermeasures with local education departments and universities to strengthen anti-fraud awareness on campus through all-round and multi-form publicity and activities, with the aim of achieving a fraud-free campus.
