GEG Promotes Drone Technology to Local Schools

Since 2019 Galaxy Entertainment Group has been contributing to the promotion of drone technology via the title-sponsorship of the “GEG Presents: Popular Science Activities in Schools on Chinese Drones” enrichment program.

Recently GEG engaged more than 1,000 students from four schools – Saint Paul School Macau, Colégio de Santa Rosa de Lima Secção Chinesa, Macau Pooi To Middle School and Escola Choi Nong Chi Tai – in drone technology, part of the company’s support for the promotion of STEM education.

A dazzling drone light and music show was presented while a hands-on drone flying session was also arranged under the guidance of specialized technicians. Videos from GEG’s previous drone light shows were shown, including from “Light up Macao Drone Gala 2022” held by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Aerial Drone Light Show celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Macau SAR and the 2019 Galaxy Entertainment Macau International Marathon.

The event was well-received by the participants, with students overwhelmed with excitement and passion during the drone flying experience.

Macau CSR spoke to two participating students, both science majors, who found the talk an eye-opener, especially the discovery that drones can be used for a range of purposes such as meal delivery and firefighting rather that their obvious surveillance use. The students pointed out that Macau, being a tourist destination, could consider using drones for performances similar to a “no-fire firework”, and in the future, even as an alternative “off the ground” transportation method.
