As a leading operator of integrated resorts in Macau, GEG has been proactively supporting the sustainable development of the integrated resort industry to facilitate Macau’s positioning as a world center of tourism and leisure. As a result, its flagship properties and hotel brands have garnered various related accolades from a range of authoritative organizations.
For example, just last month Galaxy was a winner at the International Gaming Awards for the 13th year that Galaxy has been so honored, this year winning the “Sustainability Award.” The company was highly commended by the judges for its strong commitment to a sustainable future for the communities in which it operates.
Also last month, Galaxy Macau became the resort with the most Forbes Five-Star hotels under one roof in the world, making history during the 2023 Forbes Travel Guide announcement. Delivering meticulous service of the highest standard, the resort’s five-star hotel offerings consist of Galaxy Hotel, Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau and The Ritz-Carlton, Macau. Other Forbes five-star ratings were awarded to Banyan Tree Spa Macau, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Lai Heen and 8½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA.
Congratulations also go to Banyan Tree for retaining “EarthCheck” Gold Certification for four consecutive years, with Galaxy Hotel achieving EarthCheck Silver Certification. The EarthCheck certification is a science-backed expert program delivering sustainability certifications for tourism businesses, hotels, destinations, governments, developers and building designers, terrestrial and marine parks as well as events. It demonstrates a company’s commitment to environmental and sustainable practices.
In November last year online travel agency Booking.com launched a first-of-its-kind “travel sustainable” badge to showcase a variety of sustainable stays, with Galaxy Hotel, Banyan Tree Macau and Hotel Okura Macau all qualifying for the badge.
