2023 Macao Library Week has successfully attracted over 70,000 participants

The month-long “Macao Library Week 2023” came to a successful conclusion earlier this month. This year’s Book Week attracted 70,000 people with more than 60 programs offering over 110 reading promotion activities to create an urban reading atmosphere.

“Macao Library Week 2023” is jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), the University of Macau Library and the Macao Library and Information Management Association. It is one of the “City of Reading” series of activities, and is a response to “World Book Day” on 23 April. The special week promotes reading culture for all citizens.

This year’s Macao Library Week series of activities has further expanded, with more than 60 diversified reading promotion activities over a month-long program successfully attracting about 70,000 people. The Cultural Affairs Bureau hopes that through a series of promotional projects, it will cultivate the habit of lifelong reading among residents and help build a social atmosphere of “reading for all”.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau mentioned that the goal of building a “City of Reading” continues to promote a “reading enriches life” concept, which expands reading activities across society. This includes the launch of the “Infant and Toddler Reading Rewards Programme”, holding “Macao Library Week” and other reading promotion activities, including cooperating with the Education and Youth Development Bureau to launch a reading reward program to strengthen children’s and young people’s interest in reading.
