Caritas Charity Run raises MOP$640,000

The 2023 Charity Run of Caritas was successfully held on Sunday 29 October and was the organization’s first offline charity run after the pandemic. The event raised MOP$640,000.

Held at the University of Macau the charity run featured “Challenge Run 10km”, “Healthy Run 5km”, “Easy Run 2km”, and “Virtual Running”. It attracted 2,100 registrations, with participation from more than 40 teams from a number of enterprises and organizations.

Mr Paul Pun, Secretary General of Caritas Macau, said, “The purpose of the Charity Run is to raise funds for the development of a non-funded social enterprise project.”

“Caritas is planning to set up a social enterprise called Wish Senior Services for the elderly and their families. It will provide services ranging from life companionship to daily care support for the elderly, to reduce the burden on their families.”

Mr Pun thanked residents’ dedicated support of the Charity Run. He also called on everyone to care for themselves, to pay more concern to the people around them, and to think about their elderly family members as early as possible to enrich their later lives.

Caritas stated that the entire MOP$640,000 will be used for the Wish Senior Services.
