In order to promote the speech culture and carry forward the spirit of patriotism and love for the country and Macau, the Macau Speech Professional Association (MSPA) and the Macau Cantonese Toastmasters Club jointly organized the National Patriotic Speech Contest, which attracted nearly 100 registrations nationwide. The competition was held at the University of Macau in mid-October.
The activity series of the National Patriotic Speech Contest was funded by the Macau Foundation and supported by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. Featuring the theme “Embark on a journey of Chinese civilization”, participants included different professions such as students, medical staff, writers, entrepreneurs, and military personnel.
After a round of selection, 23 representatives from 12 provinces in China, as well as Macau and Hong Kong, advanced to the semi-finals and finals that were held at the University of Macau on 14 October. Ultimately the representative from Keang Peng School in Macau was crowned champion with a representative from Hong Kong as runner-up.

Maggie Chan, the president of MSPA, said, “The event builds a good foundation for the speech community to achieve an organic combination of speech and patriotic activities.
“The preparation process was not easy, so our thanks for assistance and support goes to the government, co-organizers, supporting units, institutions, sponsors and the public. We wish to receive continuous support from all walks of life in the future.”
