To enhance Macau’s role as a platform for cultural exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) has helped to organize and support three Portuguese-speaking cultural exchange activities organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau.
These activities – the 2023 GEG Lusofonia Festival, the Macau GEG Traditional Music and Dance Performance, and the China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival – all aim to promote the public’s understanding of Macau’s unique Sino-Portuguese cultural characteristics.
The three-day 2023 GEG Lusofonia Festival featured elements from the Portuguese world including singing, dancing, games and gourmet cuisine, allowing residents and tourists to have an in-depth understanding of the unique Portuguese culture. GEG invited students and family members of Kai Chi School to participate in the carnival. Accompanied by members of the GEG volunteer team, they enjoyed a variety of Portuguese delicacies and took part in live games.
The Macau GEG Traditional Music and Dance Performance and the China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival were both part of the fifth “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” series of events. These took Chinese and foreign traditional song and dance groups and a number of films from the mainland, Portuguese-speaking countries and Macau to local neighborhoods and tourist attractions, showcasing the unique cultural charm of China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
