  • The programme is part of Sands China’s ongoing efforts to support the Macau government’s policy of “Building Macau with talent”.

Sands China, in collaboration with Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and the MPU Alumni Association, recently co-organized an achievement exhibition to share the outcomes of their Art Talent Development Showcase, highlighting the creative works of students. The showcase was met with an enthusiastic reception.

The event was attended by Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU; Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd; Wong U Kei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the MPU Alumni Association, and others who presented certificates to students that participated in the program.

In his address, Im Sio Kei noted that the collaboration between MPU and Sands China has spanned nearly two decades, yielding significant results in areas such as gaming management, innovative technology and diverse training. Through this university-enterprise cooperation scheme, undergraduate students and youngsters who aspire to develop in art and design are provided with practical experiences to understand the corporate operational environment and to evolve into multi-skilled talents. As such, they are able to contribute to Macau’s development of its cultural tourism, conventions and exhibitions combined with commerce and trade industries.

Dr Wong congratulated all students who completed the program, expressing his hope that they will utilize their expertise to showcase Macau’s unique charm to tourists from abroad. He also stated that Sands China will continue taking the responsibility for fostering local tourism professionals and remains dedicated to promoting the integrated development of culture and tourism.

During the showcase, student representatives Ao Nim Chi and Chen Fangyu both agreed that the programme has allowed them to put their knowledge into practice and enhanced their artistic creativity and expression. They have also benefited greatly from the guidance of their project managers, who have given them inspiration for their career planning and academic development, they explained.

Launched in 2021, the “Art Talent Development Showcase” is part of Sands China’s ongoing efforts to support the Macau government’s policy of “Building Macau with talent”. The programme provides real-life opportunities for its participants to apply what they have learned in the classroom by completing projects for Sands China, such as creating videos and doing graphic design work for promotional materials for some of the company’s internal events and promotions.
