- Galaxy Macau launched “Double Anniversaries” series celebrations.
- The events showcase national intangible cultural heritage to highlight traditional Chinese culture.
Galaxy Macau is marking this autumn with a series of vibrant, Chinese heritage-themed events under the banner of celebrating two significant milestones – the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region.
As part of the “Double Anniversaries” celebration, Galaxy Macau has partnered with the Foshan Folk Art Research Institute, National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base, presenting a series of magnificent art installations crafted from Foshan Lanterns, a national intangible cultural heritage. These installations illuminate the resort in a stunning display.

At the heart of the festivities is the “The Splendor of China” installation, located in the Diamond Lobby. Inspired by the famous Chinese painting, the installation features a vibrant lotus pond crafted with intricate artistry. The centerpiece is a majestic peony lantern with petals that open and close automatically, symbolizing prosperity and peace. Guests can interact with the display through a WeChat mini-program, experiencing the magic of the light show while earning instant rewards. Throughout the day, ancient-style characters appear for photo opportunities, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Another highlight is the “Jumping Fish, Blooming Lotus” installation at the entrance of the Crystal Lobby, featuring two giant goldfish lanterns meticulously crafted by artisans of intangible cultural heritage. Every detail of these lanterns captures the fluidity of the goldfish’s movements as they emerge from a lotus-filled pond, reflecting the full moon’s shadow. The blossoming lotus symbolizes Macau’s rich heritage, making the display especially meaningful during the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR).
Galaxy Macau’s popular VR Immersive Experience Center “Love Between Fairy and Devil”, launched in August, also adds to the cultural experience by offering guests the chance to try on Hanfu (traditional Chinese costumes). In line with this, the resort is hosting several Hanfu-themed events, including a mid-September city tour on an open-top bus featuring Hanfu enthusiasts, a grand Mid-Autumn Hanfu parade on the evening of the festival, and a traditional arts performance in the Diamond Lobby. These activities, complete with elegant Hanfu costumes and performances by the Macao Youth Chinese Orchestra and classical dance troupes, allow participants to immerse themselves in the beauty of Chinese culture.
To complement the cultural festivities, Galaxy Macau’s renowned restaurants are offering seasonal autumn dishes, while younger visitors can enjoy traditional Mid-Autumn games such as lantern riddles and crossword puzzles, with chances to win prizes. Children may also have the opportunity to meet Wavey, the peacock mascot of Galaxy Kidz, dressed in Hanfu.
Through this event, GEG supports the Macau SAR government’s “Tourism+” initiative, and aims to promote traditional culture and raise awareness of the importance of protecting China’s intangible cultural heritage among residents and visitors alike.
