Sands China donates MOP 1.08 million in scholarships and fellowships to seven local tertiary institutions

  • Sands China donated over MOP 1.08 million in scholarships and fellowships to seven Macau tertiary institutions.
  • This year marks the 18th consecutive year of Sands China providing scholarship and fellowship money to Macau tertiary institutions in support of higher education in Macau.

In early November, Sands China hosted its annual scholarship and fellowship cheque presentation ceremony at The Venetian Macao, announcing a total donation of MOP 1.08 million for the current academic year. This initiative is part of the company’s longstanding commitment to supporting higher education in Macau.

The donation will provide tuition assistance to 108 local students, who were selected by their respective institutions based on academic performance and financial need. Sands China emphasized that the scholarships and fellowships aim to empower students by alleviating financial barriers and encouraging them to excel in their studies.

This year marks the 18th consecutive year of Sands China’s contributions to local higher education institutions. Since 2006, the company has donated over MOP 15.7 million in scholarships and fellowships, benefiting more than 1,800 students across Macau.

Dr Wilfred Wong, Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd., highlighted the importance of investing in the next generation: “Macau’s youth are the future of our community and the main driving force of the city’s development,” he said. “It is a pleasure for Sands China to help nurture young people through talent development initiatives like this, encouraging them to pursue excellence while laying a foundation for their academic achievements and future careers.

“We are honoured to support higher education in Macau and we hope the fruits of this initiative will continue to strengthen and increase Macau’s pool of diversified talent and contribute to the development of both the nation and Macau.”
