Since their launch, the Galaxy Arena and Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC), along with other GEG venues, have successfully hosted over 700 international conferences, entertainment performances, sports events and cultural activities as of the end of 2024, attracting more than one million attendees from around the world to Macau.
As the largest indoor arena in Macau, the Galaxy Arena features state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technical support, accommodating up to 16,000 spectators. Since its inauguration, the venue has rapidly become a magnet for large-scale entertainment shows and international sports events from both regional and global organizers.
From 2023 to the present, GEG has hosted various entertainment events at the Galaxy Arena and its other venues. These have included world tours by top international pop groups and concerts by celebrated singers and artists from Asia and Greater China .
For example, Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau held four solo concerts at the Galaxy Arena in October this year. The concerts coincided with China’s National Day Golden Week effect, which included a record for single-day visitor arrivals in Macau during the holiday period, while GEG’s hotels achieved near-full occupancy rates. In addition, “A Full Moon Rising Above the Greater Bay Area – The Greater Bay Area Film Concert 2024” was held in September 2024. The gala brought together over 100 performing artists, musicians and Olympic athletes to celebrate the Greater Bay Area through music.
The economic and surrounding impacts generated by these concerts are a testament to GEG’s contribution to Macau’s development as a “City of Performing Arts”.
