  • The Association was honored as a Key Organization for GBA Standards Development, highlighting Macau’s leading role in advancing green transformation and standardization efforts.

The Macao Low Carbon Development Association has actively participated in regional green initiatives in recent years, promoting Macau’s enhanced role in low-carbon development within the Greater Bay Area (GBA). This includes signing the Joint Initiative on Carbon Neutrality Standards for Exhibitions in the Greater Bay Area in 2024 and the Guidelines for implementing carbon neutrality of convention and exhibition activities in GBA in 2025.

During the 2024 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum and Exhibition (MIECF), with support from the Macao SAR Government’s Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute and Environmental Protection Bureau, the Association joined forces with various associations from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau to sign the Joint Initiative on Carbon Neutrality Standards for Exhibitions in the GBA, collectively advancing the concept of green MICE events.

Building upon this initiative, the “Guidelines for implementing carbon neutrality of convention and exhibition activities in GBA” were officially released at the 2025 MIECF. The Association participated in the event, signing the “GBA Exhibition Industry Carbon Neutrality Declaration” in the presence of numerous government and business guests.

Furthermore, during the “World Standards Day 2025” themed event, the Macau Low Carbon Development Association and the Macau Trade and Exhibition Association were honored as “Key Organizations for GBA Standards Development” for their contributions to green MICE standards research and practice.

This recognition not only affirms both associations’ efforts in advancing standardization work but also highlights Macau’s technical and coordination capabilities in the GBA’s green economic development, opening new opportunities for high-quality, low-carbon development in the region.

This series of initiatives marks substantial progress for the GBA’s MICE industry toward green and low-carbon development. It further solidifies Macau’s pivotal role in regional green MICE cooperation, highlighting its professional expertise in advancing green transformation and standardization efforts.
