2026 Q1: Welcome to the latest edition of our quarterly publication

The year is off to a busy start, with the first quarter of 2026 ushering in the Year of the Horse and citywide celebrations as locals and visitors alike took to the temples to pray for wealth, success and, most importantly, health.
Those prayers are of particular importance to Macau’s elderly community, as the government and populace look to figure out the best ways to care for an increasingly ageing population. The theme of this edition, Social Care, shines a spotlight on how grassroots charity combines with government-led subsidy schemes, all aimed at tackling top priorities around housing, medical care, transport, education and special needs individuals.
This confluence of private support and public frameworks will continue to be essential, making sure the city benefits both visitors and those who call it home.
The Chinese New Year period was the perfect time to show societal care, with operators organizing special packages of food and daily necessities, support for SME development, awareness programs for the elderly, parent-child activities, and even music and cultural events.
But this support is not limited to the holidays. Even as hotels and restaurants earn accolades for their top-notch international products, the groups behind them recognize that the foundation of their success lies in the community. And a healthy and prosperous Macau is something we all benefit from.
