The premiere of the “3rd New Art Studies in Filming – Micro Movie Support Program” was held on 23 May at The Londoner Macao, featuring the debut of five selected original micro films from Macau. The event attracted industry guests, film and television practitioners, and young creative teams in support of the program.

Organized by the Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Church District (CIPA) and sponsored by Sands China for the third consecutive year, the program has received a positive response, with more than 400 people having taken part in productions since its debut in 2022.

This year, 16 teams submitted script proposals. After an evaluation by a professional judging panel, five teams were selected to receive funding and complete their productions. The five selected works are “Takeaway Nightmare,” “Reincarnated Station,” “Same as the Light,” “Rootless Guide,” and “Only in the Dream.” Covering themes such as reflections on human nature, the age of digital attention, and the meetings and partings of life, the films demonstrate the diverse perspectives of Macau’s young creators.

Dr Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China Ltd.

Sands China said it will continue to promote the development of the cultural, art and film industries in Macau and looks forward to working hand in hand with various sectors to nurture more talent for Macau’s film industry, cultivating a fertile ground for its development and bringing more of Macau’s original stories to a broader stage. This, it added, will help amplify Macau’s global cultural presence, thereby consistently promoting the city’s development as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.
