After five days of intense competition, Türkiye came from behind to defeat Brazil in the final, claiming the championship once again after winning their first title in 2023. Italy secured third place after defeating China in the bronze-medal match held earlier the same day.

During the championship match, Fabio Azevedo, President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), presented souvenirs to the local organizing committee, which were accepted by Lei Si Leng, Representative of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Acting President of the Sports Bureau, President of the organizing committee; Buddy Lam, Director of Corporate Affairs of GEG; and Fong Sok Van, Secretary General of the Volleyball Association of Macao, China. GEG Continues Strong Commitment to Sports Development

This is GEG’s 16th year supporting world-class women’s volleyball events in Macau and its second time as a Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) organizer. GEG has continuously supported Macau in hosting high-level international sporting events, aligning with the Macao SAR Government’s efforts to promote the integrated development of “sports + tourism” and helping Macau develop into a city of major international sporting events.

Aside from its role in organizing the tournament, GEG actively extended the positive impact of the major sporting event into the community. Through platforms and supporting activities, GEG helped bring the excitement beyond the competition venue and into the community, with youth groups and social service organizations, and at tourism and leisure spaces. The spirit of volleyball permeated Macau during the event, with residents and visitors drawn to the excitement of the matches and activities.

This marks GEG’s 16th year supporting world-class women’s volleyball events in Macau and its second time serving as one of the event organizers.

GEG Extends Volleyball Fever into the Community

In addition to supporting the tournament, GEG launched the “V Together” Volleyball Outreach Series, under its “GEG Sports for Good Community Program,” bringing the experience of world-class sports to different sectors of the community and encouraging wider participation in athletics.

Inviting Nearly 200 Social Service Members to Watch Matches and Participate

To actively promote community inclusion, GEG invited nearly 200 members from various organizations to attend and watch the exciting matches, including the Fuhong Society of Macau, Macau Special Olympics, Macau Deaf Association, Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau, Caritas Macau, the GEG Youth Achievement Program, and the Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau. Meanwhile, GEG supported Macau Special Olympics and Fuhong Society of Macau in setting up charity sales booths at the venue to convey messages of diversity and inclusion to the public, and invited the Hong Kong Hin at the Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau to prepare welcome bouquets for all participating teams upon their arrival in Macao and during their stay at Andaz Macau.

Up-close Exchanges with National Team Players to Pass on Professionalism

On the eve of the tournament, GEG, together with other co-organizers, invited several national women’s volleyball players—including Dong Yuhan, Yang Shuming, Zhang Zixuan, and Zhou Yetong—to interact with members of the local youth training teams under the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, as well as members of the GEG Staff Social Club volleyball team. The national team players shared their valuable training and match experience on-site and engaged in friendly exchanges with participants, allowing local youth to learn from world-class athletes up close and absorb their professional spirit.

Through “GEG Sports for Good Community Program,” GEG brings world-class sporting event experiences to various segments of the community.

In addition, GEG supported the “Art Everywhere – Cultural Vibes at the Weekend” at Nam Van Lake, as well as the “Volleyball Experience” and multiple autograph sessions held at the East Square of Galaxy Macau. The event brought together four participating teams, including Team China, for close-up interactions with the public, further enriching the event experience for residents and tourists. Through this series of diverse activities, GEG extended the women’s volleyball spectacle from the sports arena into the community and tourism leisure spaces, fully demonstrating the positive role of sports in promoting exchanges, uniting the community, and boosting urban vitality.
