Caritas Macau’s Longevity Special Care Centre Organizes Senior Activities

  • Caritas Macau’s Longevity Special Care Centre organized activities for seniors.
  • Events on 23 and 24 July at Seac Pai Van encouraged physical movement and cognitive training.

The Longevity Special Care Centre, under Caritas Macau, recently hosted elderly activities to enhance seniors’ cognitive abilities and physical functions through a series of competitions and activities.

The initiative was sponsored by the Social Welfare Bureau and held at the Escola Oficial de Seac Pai Van, with the event featuring a Cornhole Tournament on 23 July, followed by strategy board games Blokus and Rummikub competitions on 24 July.

A total of 174 participants competed for top honors (champion, runner-up, second runner-up, and third runner-up) across various categories. The participating entities included the Elderly Health Committee, Taipa Pak Lok Home of General Union of Macau, Yan Kei Elderly Centre, Centro de Convívio da Associação dos Habitantes das Ilhas Kuan Iek, Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for the Elderly, Centro de Dia da Ilha Verde, Hino Luminoso Elderly Centre, Centro de Dia “Brilho da Vida,” Irmãs Maryknoll de S. Domingos MM, Caritas Macau’s Elderly Service Centre,” and the Longevity Special Care Centre.

The center noted that through competition, seniors are encouraged to undergo cognitive training to stimulate brain activity. At the same time, this promotes regular exercise to improve physical functions, while deepening the spirit of community mutual aid and teamwork.

On the day of the event, the seniors showed high enthusiasm and active participation in the competitions. The activities were thrilling, with participants fully focused and demonstrating incredible vitality. Caritas noted that their enthusiasm truly embodied the spirit of “never being too old to exercise and stay active.”
