Earth Hour 2025
SJM responded to “Earth Hour”, the global campaign initiated by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), by switching off exterior lights and non-essential indoor illuminations at SJM’s Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, Grand Lisboa Macau and other properties on 22 March at 8:30pm for one hour.
Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session
On 19 March, SJM hosted the “SJM Patriotic Education Series – Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session”. The event was attended and supported by Yang Yi, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, and featured distinguished guest speakers including Lao Ngai Leong and Ho Sut Heng, Macau Deputies to the National People’s Congress. Lee Chong Cheng and Grace Wong Kit-chen, Members of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference from Macao SAR, also took part. Over 350 SJM employees attended the briefing, where key takeaways and highlights of the Two Sessions 2025 were conveyed.
“Forge My Own Journey” Development Programme
SJM and the Macao University of Tourism have jointly established the SJM “Forge My Own Journey” Development Programme. The signing and launch ceremony took place on 12 March. This program introduces an innovative approach to integrated learning and work experience, offering local youth a unique opportunity that combines theoretical education with practical experience.
HK Sustainable Development Innovation and Technology Awards
SJM earned the “Green Building Innovation & Technology – Excellent Award” and the “Quality Education Innovation and Technology – Excellent Award” at the 2025 Hong Kong Sustainable Development Innovation and Technology Awards.
Supporting Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop
For the 13th consecutive year, SJM has continued its support for the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop through a donation to its “Food Hampers” campaign. On 1 March, the SJM Volunteer Team participated in the event by delivering food hampers and red packets to over 370 families in need.
“SJM Cultural Calligraphy and Painting” Gala Dinner
SJM held the “SJM Cultural Calligraphy and Painting” Gala Dinner on 26 February. The event was attended by Wang Huijie, Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ambrose So, Director of SJM; Angela Leong, Director of SJM and Chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee; along with several calligraphers and painters.
Collaborating with youth to visit the elderly
On 22 February, team members from SJM and youth from the Sheng Kung Hui North District Youth Service visited the Lar de Cuidados de Ká Hó of Macao Federation of Trade Unions. During their visit, they held a “Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Workshop” at the home for the elderly.
Participating in Blood Donation Talk
SJM, in collaboration with the Macao Blood Transfusion Service, hosted the “Blood Donation Talk and Visit to the Blood Bank” activity to enhance employees’ understanding of blood donation and the community’s need for blood. The event took place on 18 February at the blood donation center and drew participation from 34 team members.
Collaborating with Macau Youth Development Service Centre to organize SJM Career Experience Day
SJM collaborated with the Macau Youth Development Service Centre to organize the “SJM Career Experience Day” for high school students from mainland China and Macau. The event attracted 40 students from both regions.
Lantern Festival Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Workshop
On the occasion of the Lantern Festival, SJM invited members and their families from the Macau IC2 Association to participate in the “Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Workshop Series” on 8 February.
Charity donations bring care to the community
In January, SJM donated used items, including office furniture, stationery and bedding sets, to several local organizations, namely the Associação de Idosos, Deficientes Intelectuais e Seus Familiares, the Macau Down Syndrome Association and the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office – Star of Hope.
Alumni Association of Scholarship for SJM Employees’ Children
To celebrate Chinese New Year, the “Alumni Association of the Scholarship for SJM Employees’ Children” hosted a dinner gathering on 24 January, bringing together nearly 50 members to welcome the Year of the Snake.
Multiple awards at CEM’s “Macau Energy Saving Activity 2024”
Companhia de Electricidade de Macau held the “Macau Energy Saving Activity 2024” award ceremony at Macau Tower on 22 January 2025. SJM’s Grand Lisboa Hotel won the “Hotel Group B Excellence Award” and the “Continuous Energy Saving Award.” Additionally, Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 was honored with the “Hotel Group B Excellence Award.”
GoGoGoal Youth Companion Recognition Ceremony
The “GoGoGoal Youth Companion Recognition Ceremony,” organized by the Bosco Youth Service Network, took place on 22 January. SJM was awarded “The Best Companion for Teenagers 2025” and “The Friendly Enterprise Supporting Teenagers Franchise Merchants 2025.”
Sharing warmth with communities to celebrate Lunar New Year
From 13 to 22 January, SJM mobilized 70 members of its volunteer team to launch the “Lunar New Year Charity Operation.” They visited underprivileged families, senior citizens living alone and students from organizations and charity groups, reaching more than 2,500 people.
Championship basketball game
SJM participated in the “Beijing Basketball Game for Chinese of the World – Macao, China,” which was jointly organized by the Macau-China Basketball Association, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports Secretary Office and the Beijing Basketball Association. SJM emerged as the champion in the Men’s Open Group C.
“SJM SME Institution Logo Design Competition” provides a platform for young talent
In 2024, SJM established the “SJM SME Institution” and partnered with the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) to organize a logo design competition. Supported by the Macao Chamber of Commerce, this initiative provided a vibrant platform for young talent to showcase their skills while promoting the synergy and development of the tourism, leisure and cultural and creative industries. The award presentation ceremony took place on 21 January at MPU.
Graduation of 10th Session of the SJM Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Class
Organized by SJM, the graduation ceremony for the 10th session of the SJM Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Class was held on 20 January at its staff club. This session was attended by 15 students, comprised of current staff members and members of the company’s Retired Employee Association.
First runner-up at the MSO Bowling Contest
The SJM team secured the first runner-up position in the “2025 MSO Bowling Contest – Inclusive Group Tournament”, along with the Help Award in the Paralympic Games. Organized by Macao Special Olympics, the tournament took place on 11 January at the bowling alley of Future Bright Amusement Park.
Promoting blood donation
SJM is hosting multiple blood donation activities this year. Once again, SJM has partnered with the Blood Donation Centre to organize blood donation events at Grand Lisboa Palace, Grand Lisboa and Jai Alai Oceanus.
Expanding the Scholarship Programme for MPU
SJM established the SJM Scholarship Programme for students of the Macao Polytechnic University in 2002. Recently, SJM expanded the annual scholarship amount to MOP$100,000, awarding 10 outstanding students every year with MOP$10,000 each.
