Macau’s first autism organization, Kanner’s Home for the Autistic, has co-organized a reading group with the Macao Association of Analytical Psychology. The program focuses on guided reading and group discussions, helping parents gain clearer and more practical ways to understand their children’s development on the autism spectrum.

The activity is provided free of charge by the Macao Association of Analytical Psychology for Kanner’s Home for the Autistic. Macau psychotherapist Yuen Joel Arcádio serves as the facilitator. Through psychological group learning, the sessions support parents both in educating their children and in relieving their own stress and emotional strain.

The program consists of 16 reading group sessions running from 24 November 2025 to 20 April 2026.

The designated text is PEERS for Young Adults: Social Skills Training for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Other Social Challenges. The intervention model presented in the book is evidence-based and applicable from adolescence through adulthood. A key feature is the use of synchronized group training for both participants and their caregivers, with the goal of strengthening social skills and helping individuals build lasting and meaningful friendships and intimate relationships.

In addition, the book covers a range of real-life situations such as everyday social etiquette, dating manners and strategies for dealing with bullying. It serves as a reference for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, teachers and other helping and educational professionals who lead social skills training groups, with the aim of offering broader support to people facing social difficulties.
