Sands China Continues to Expand Its MICE Footprint, Supporting Macau’s Diversified Development

  • Sands China has hosted nearly 12,800 MICE events in the city, drawing over 15.7 million MICE visits.
  • Macau’s MICE industry has expanded significantly, becoming one of the key engines driving progress in the city’s diversification.

Leveraging the strengths of its integrated resorts, Sands China Ltd. continues to attract MICE events to the city, hosting nearly 12,800 MICE events and drawing over 15.7 million MICE visits, further reinforcing Macau’s position as a regional and international MICE tourism destination.

Since the opening of Sands Macao in 2004, Sands China has consistently aligned with the Macao SAR government’s direction of promoting adequate economic diversification. With non-gaming sectors such as hospitality, retail, entertainment and MICE forming the core of its development strategy, Sands China has played an active role in supporting Macau’s role as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.”

With the opening of The Venetian Macao in 2007, Sands China took the lead in launching Cotai Expo – a large-scale convention and exhibition facility that laid the foundation for the development of Macau’s MICE industry. Following years of expansion, Sands’ total MICE facilities now span over 1.6 million square feet.

The sector generates strong spillover benefits, promoting the upgrading of related industries while also attracting international business travelers and broadening overseas visitor markets. In 2025 alone, Sands China recorded 380,000 room nights by international guests across its integrated resorts.

Grant Chum, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd., said: “Over the years, Sands China has played a pivotal role in developing Macau’s MICE industry, integrating MICE deeply within our integrated resort model. We have built large-scale, high-quality MICE infrastructure in Macau, continuously elevating the sector into a strategic drawcard and tourism product that connects Macau with global markets, strengthens the city’s international competitiveness, and supports its broader economic diversification.”
