MGTO creates promotional videos to champion sustainable gastronomy

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) produced a series of promotional videos in order to promote the importance of sustainable cuisine to the industry, local residents and tourists, as part of “Sustainable Gastronomy Day” on June 18.

Gastronomy is a channel of expression of the world’s natural and cultural diversity, and all civilizations can contribute to its sustainable development. Sustainable cuisine can be achieved through promoting sustainable development goals for agricultural development, food security, nutrition, food production and biodiversity conservation. The United Nations passed a resolution on 21 December 2016 to establish 18 June as the day for sustainable gastronomy each year.

This year’s Sustainable Gastronomy Day sees Macau participating in and promoting the day for the first time. The MGTO has produced a series of promotional videos for this purpose and promoted this international day to residents and tourists through its website and different social media channels, in order to communicate the important attributes of sustainable cuisine.

In addition, the MGTO also promotes to the Macau public the importance of Macau being recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy last year, as well as encouraging the industry to inherit and create a new Macau food culture and contribute to the sustainable worldwide development of Macau’s tourism industry.

The promotional video can be viewed on MGTO’s website and related social networking platforms.
