After a three-year absence, the in-person Caritas Macau Charity Run will finally resume this year. The event will be held at the University of Macau on the morning of 29 October.
Since 2016, the Charity Run has been an annual fundraising activity held by Caritas Macau. However, under the cloud of COVID-19 in recent years, the event was suspended in 2020, while “virtual running” was held in 2021 and 2022. With the pandemic finally behind us this year, Caritas has decided to resume the in-person event.
Caritas pointed out that the purpose of this year’s charity run is to raise funds for a non-funded social enterprise project called Wish Senior Service. Wish Senior Service is a social enterprise service for the elderly and their families, providing members with care services for the elderly and reducing the burden on families.
As in previous years, the Charity Run is being supported by the University of Macau and will be held at the University campus. In addition to various games of virtual running, the offline activities have the following categories: Challenge Run (10 km), Healthy Run (5 km) and Easy Run (2 km). Moreover, the Charity Run will make use of innovative technology for the first time. The event is supported by ICBC, which is providing an online registration program. Participants can register individually or as a team through ICBC mobile apps.
In addition to receiving a commemorative T-shirt, every participant will receive a specially designed circular and rotatable medal, symbolizing the endless cycle of charitable work and sports.
Enrolment for the charity run is open from 1 August to 15 September. Individual or team enrolment can be made online through ICBC mobile apps, or at four designated Caritas locations.
