GEG holds 12th YAP Award Presentation and launch ceremony for the 13th edition

In a ceremony held early this month, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), in partnership with the Macau Management Professional Association (MMA), celebrated the culmination of the 12th Youth Achievement Program (YAP) and ushered in its 13th edition. The ceremony also marked the renewal of a three-year collaboration agreement, demonstrating GEG’s commitment to nurturing and developing local young talents.

Since 2011, GEG and MMA have worked together to provide these programs to nearly 3,500 local youths aged 18 to 29, offering diverse activities and training opportunities. The 12th YAP, which was themed around technological innovation, included engaging workshops such as “Meta With U: Understanding the Metaverse” and an “Immersive Greater Bay Area Study Tour”. These initiatives aimed to familiarize participants with futuristic technology trends and the burgeoning high-tech industrial sector in China.

Participants also explored China’s high-tech industrial development zones, gaining insight into the nation’s ambitious plans for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area as a hub for science and technological innovation. These experiences were pivotal in increasing their understanding and interest in technological innovation.

Additionally, GEG also invited YAP participants to a number of Macau’s major events, including the “WTT Champions Macao 2023 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group”, the “Galaxy Entertainment Group 2023 11th Yao Foundation Charity Game”, the “2023 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon”, and the “TMEA Tencent Music Entertainment Festival”. These experiences provided them with a practical understanding of Macau’s “1+4” adequate diversification development strategy.

The 12th edition’s Final Competition challenged participants to come up with innovative event plans for Macau, combining scientific creativity with strategies to enhance the city’s character, economy and global image. Team “MoBot” won the top spot with their innovative “Mobot 5G Speed Feast” concept, which creatively combined elements of the Macau Grand Prix with smart food solutions. The winning team was awarded a GEG-sponsored educational trip to the high-tech sector in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, which proved to be a highly enriching experience.

The launch of the 13th YAP was also announced at the ceremony, with a focus on community care. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macau’s return to China, a special theme of “Telling Good Stories of Macau” has been selected for this edition. Participants are encouraged to explore various Macau communities, including the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, which has been revitalized by GEG in collaboration with the Macau SAR Government. They will explore Macau’s rich history and cultural heritage while participating in activities that incorporate national elements to enhance cultural identity and a sense of belonging.
