- Sands China has donated more than MOP 7.9 million towards responsible gaming initiatives since 2006.
- This is part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its support of the sustainable development of the local community.
In late March, Sands China donated a total of MOP 1 million to five local nongovernmental organisations (NGOs), supporting their efforts in promoting responsible gaming initiatives and activities within the Macau community in 2024.
The beneficiaries included the Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau, the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Service Coordination Office, the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home, the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao and the Bosco Youth Service Network.
According to Sands China, the funds will be utilized to support various responsible gaming activities and initiatives in the community, such as parent-child responsible gaming and financial management activities, road shows, workshops, training, sharing sessions, responsible gaming promotional videos and quiz games, a responsible gaming community promotion day and more.
“It is our pleasure to donate to Macau’s local organizations again this year to aid them in their responsible gaming work in the community, and we hope the financial support contributes to the sustainable development of the industry,” said Andy Kobel, Sands China’s Senior Vice President of Casino Operations, during the check donation ceremony.
“We extend our gratitude to the local organizations and to members of our responsible gaming team who work with them throughout the year, as we look ahead to another successful year of cooperation.”
According to the company, Sands China’s commitment to responsible gaming in Macau is longstanding, with the company having supported related initiatives for 19 consecutive years and providing total contributions exceeding MOP 7.9 million.
Sands China said it has pioneered several initiatives in this area; in 2004 it was the first integrated resort operator to launch a self-exclusion program and it has included responsible gaming training in its company-wide team member orientation program since 2007. These actions reflect Sands China’s commitment to addressing social issues, bearing corporate responsibility and fostering a culture of responsible gaming in Macau.
