- SJM has introduced the new “Kam Pek Market” in San Ma Lo.
- The project aims to revitalize the district and drive synergistic growth.
As part of SJM Resorts’ “San Ma Lo District Revitalization Plan”, the much-anticipated project “Kam Pek Market” commenced operations in early December.
The property, a protected local heritage building, has a storied history. During the 1980s and 1990s it operated as the “Casino Kam Pek” before being transformed in 2002 into the “Kam Pek Community Centre” – a venue that served as a performance and exhibition space for local groups and artists.
In an effort to enhance the district’s culinary offerings and diversify its overall experience, SJM invited and selected high-quality local SMEs to establish their businesses within the space. The project adopts a revenue-sharing leasing model, complemented by comprehensive support for opening and operations. This includes assistance in supply chain management, cost control, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance, aiming to optimize the success of its tenants.
The first phase of “Kam Pek Market” spans over 7,000 square feet on the ground floor, featuring nearly 100 seats and hosting eight food and beverage vendors: Sam’s Station, Time To Go Home Dessert, Ba Fang Ying Mian Cuisine, Goat Bakers, Fong Seng Hin, Pratunam 1982, Rui Chen Delights and Dragon Dance Noodle. These vendors offer a variety of cuisines, including Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, Thai and Taiwanese specialties. Operating hours are set from 10am to 10pm every day, catering to diverse dining preferences.
The second phase of the project is expected to launch in January 2025, introducing eight additional shops and nearly 139 seats on the first floor.
